Yasen Nikolov joined Stoeva Tchompalov & Znepolski as an of counsel in January 2019, following more than 4 years in practice at Dimitrov, Tchompalov & Todorova law firm where his professional experience was focused on capital markets, corporate and finance advisory work. During this period, he worked together with Iordan Tchompalov on a wide range of domestic and international mandates and reached recognition in Legal 500 directory as a next generation lawyer.
Yasen possesses an expert knowledge of vast variety of securities, banking, corporate and commercial law matters and a first-hand experience of conducting court proceedings related to civil (including IP related), administrative and insurance disputes. Yasen also has for a long time had a keen interest of EU law, data protection, M&A and competition law.
At present, in the course of his independent legal practice, Yasen works closely with the biggest bank in Bulgaria DSK Bank on a number of sophisticated legal issues such as payment services and payment systems.
Yasen is the author of a dozen journal articles related primarily to capital markets. In his academic work he provides up-to-date coverage of issues related to security offerings, disclosure and prospectus liability. He authored publications on various other legal topics such as The Force Majeure, The Settlement Agreement, Clausula Rebus Sic Stantibus.
At this moment, he conducts commercial law seminars to law students at the Sofia University.
Yasen has been presented several times with achievement awards by the Sofia University for his scientific research, outstanding performance and public activity.
Yasen holds an LL.M (2012) and PhD in Commercial Law (2018) from Sofia University, Faculty of Law.
He is admitted to Sofia Bar and to practice in Bulgaria.
As well as his mother-tongue Bulgarian, Yasen also speaks English and has working knowledge of German.
